Book Talk: Johnny Cash: The Life and Legacy of The Man In Black with Alan Light and John Carter Cash

Author Alan Light is a frequent contributor to the New York Times and Rolling Stone, a former editor-in-chief of Vibe and Spin magazines, and a two-time winner of the ASCAP Foundation Deems Taylor/Virgil Thomson Award for excellence in music writing. His most recent work, Johnny Cash: The Life and Legacy of the Man in Black, is an illustrated biography revealing Cash’s personal and professional life through previously unpublished material including handwritten notes and lyrics, photographs, and beloved objects from his home and recording studio. In this program, Light will discuss the process of gathering these new finds for the book. He will be joined by John Carter Cash, son of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. John Carter Cash is a singer-songwriter, author, and Grammy-winning producer. He has produced recordings for his mother and father, as well as for Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Ralph Stanley, and many more. John Carter Cash will also perform. Ford Theater.
