Fighting for Home and Hearth
Stones River National Battlefield
Sat, Aug 24 10:00 am
As the Battle of Stones River raged across the fields and forests near Murfreesboro, hundreds of Confederate soldiers found themselves fighting for more than victory. The men from Murfreesboro and Rutherford County fought on the very land they had tilled and among the homes of family and friends knowing defeat meant they might never see their hometown again. Park rangers will share the stories of these local soldiers who fought in every major phase of the battle while volunteers present musket firing demonstrations at 10 & 11 AM and 1, 2 & 3 PM.
