Harpeth Art Center and Gallery
Sat, Jan 19 10:00 am

In this workshop, participants will be guided step-by-step through Catron's process to re-create this abstract painting in her unique style, with the use of acrylic paints, making washes and when to use water, how to create translucency and using mediums, along with learning various ways to obtain textures. Students will learn how to achieve layering with brushes, cards or palette knives, paper, fiber, and other materials.  Students will be using brushes, and possibly pallet knives and acrylic mediums to create textures, layers, value, push and pull, contrast and about the areas in a good abstract painting. Catron will work with each student throughout the workshop. She will share the fundamentals of mixing colors, application techniques and using complementary colors in through the process. Catron will encourage students to explore and experiment with style, form. Bring your brushes...some old brushes will do nicely.  A 16x20 canvas is supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own canvas if you would like to, no wider than 24"  width to allow for space and elbow room. **Bring your lunch*** Catron Wallace is a full-time Abstract Artist that has been painting for 20 years and sells her work in galleries across several states.
