Knox Hamilton featuring Brother Sundance with Elel & Alex Di Leo
The Basement East
Fri, Jul 13 8:00 pm

Knox Hamilton: Brothers Boots and Cobo Copeland have been making music together their entire lives. From an early age, they self-taught themselves drums, guitar, and bass, filling their pastor father’s church with songs bathed in light and life. It’s the bond between Boots and Cobo that gives Knox Hamilton’s music a degree of familial intuition; a genetic thread of energy running between the two. Knox Hamilton (comprised of Boots and Cobo and their longtime buddy and talented guitarist Drew Buffington) doesn’t make songs by mistake. Rather, they work hard at their craft, stacking gorgeous vocals on top of relatable lyrics and restless melodies. Every note, every chord, every lyric is intentionally created to wrap your mind in a warm embrace while still setting your soul free to wander the cosmos. One listen to the first single “Washed Up Together” from their debut album The Heights and you’ll agree the result is hard to argue with. Brother Sundance: Brother Sundance started playing the drums at the age of two and later spent hours at his kit teaching himself his favorite songs. His mother often says that he was born playing the drums and hasn't stopped since. As a teenager, he picked up the guitar and began to sing, which eventually culminated in fronting his punk-blues band, Wallace. Wallace played the South Florida underground circuit heavily for a year before giving way to Brother Sundance's solo efforts. As a solo performer, he writes, records and produces all of his music, often playing every instrument. He is joined on stage by an incredible group of musicians and has worked hard to put together an exhilarating set.  ELEL: ELEL's sound has been praised as “world pop”, a tag that rejects the musical culture of their hometown as much as their diverse influences, which include Prince, Frank Ocean and Vampire Weekend. Viral hit “40 Watt,” landed the band a record deal, and debut LP “Geode” was released on Mom + Pop music in 2016, featuring singles “Kiss Kiss” (Grey’s Anatomy), “Animal” (premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 channel) and “When She Walks.” They toured the country and appeared in Mike Birbiglia's feature film Don't Think Twice performing their song "40 Watt".  Alex Di Leo: South Florida alternative indie singer/songwriter Alex Di Leo began his solo career after his reputable rock band Wyld Fly parted ways in 2014. Spending the next year writing and recording music, Di Leo gathered most of his inspiration from traveling, using his songs as an uplifting way to share new experiences and journeys. Di Leo explains, “I’m constantly thinking of how short our lives are and how important it is to experience new things, take risks, and to not be afraid of what could go wrong, but what could go right. Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about the destination”
