For 45 years, Kronos Quartet has transformed musical experiences and expectations with innovation and creativity. A Thousand Thoughts: A Live Documentary with the Kronos Quartet written and directed by Sam Green and Joe Bini follows that course, enveloping audiences in a documentary about the string quartet’s role in the musical landscape, presented with live narration by filmmaker Sam Green. The work includes snippets of music made famous by the quartet, but there’s much in store even for those who are unfamiliar: it highlights music in general, and how it affects us on an individual level. Included are interviews with luminaries such as Philip Glass, Tanya Tagaq, Steve Reich, Wu Man and Terry Riley, though the quartet itself gains central focus with its accompanying live performance.
