The Cowan welcomes Long Beach Dub Allstars with The Aggrolites and Mike Pinto on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Long Beach Dub Allstars: Legendary Los Angeles Reggae outfit Long Beach Dub Allstars have reunited and released their first taste of new music with two new tracks "Holding Out" and “Steady Customer” online at here. This is the first new music from Long Beach Dub Allstars since the release of 2001's "Wonders of the World". The songs are currently available on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify, as well as all other digital music retailers. Long Beach Dub Allstars was formed after Sublime disbanded following the death of singer Bradley Nowell in 1996. Long Beach Dub Allstars released two now-classic albums “Right Back” (1999) and “Wonders of the World” (2001), before they went their separate ways in 2002. Long Beach Dub Allstars’ unique mixture of danceable reggae beats and fiery punk-rock energy had a lasting impact on the scene, with both albums becoming highly influential to the groups that came after them. Long Beach Dub Allstars reunited in 2013 with “Ras MG” Goodman on drums, Michael “Miguel” Happoldt on guitar, Opie Ortiz on vocals, Jack Maness on keys, Tim Wu on horns, Edwin Kampwirth on bass, and Roger Rivas of The Aggrolites on organ. The Aggrolites: The Aggrolites are an amalgamation of two previous Los Angeles reggae and ska bands, the Vessels and the Rhythm Doctors. They formed in 2002 as a live backing band for reggae icon Derrick Morgan and were asked to record music for a new Morgan album. The project was never released, but the recording sessions inspired the Aggrolites to become a permanent band. They have served as the backing band for Phyllis Dillon, Scotty, Joseph Hill of Culture, Prince Buster, and Tim Armstrong. Mike Pinto: Mike Pinto has crafted an exceptional style of songwriting, with a truly unique take on Roots, Vintage Rock, Reggae, Ska and Classic Surf, but it’s his distinct voice and seamless storytelling that has brought him success both in the United States and overseas.
