Nashville Cats: Salute to Harmonica Player Mickey Raphael
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
Sat, Jun 16 2:00 pm

Native Texan Mickey Raphael was a twenty-year-old harmonica player touring with singer-songwriter B.W. Stevenson when he first met Willie Nelson, in 1973. That meeting was the start of a lifelong musical association with Nelson, as Raphael’s signature harmonica sound helped Willie find generations of new fans and cross radio formats. In addition to being a featured player in Nelson’s band, Raphael also has been heard on recordings by Johnny Cash, Guy Clark, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Elton John, Alison Krauss, Margo Price, Snoop Dogg, Chris Stapleton, and U2. The interview will include photos, audio clips, and videos from Raphael’s career and he will perform briefly. Presented in support of the exhibit Outlaws & Armadillos: Country’s Roaring ʼ70s. Ford Theater. After the program, Raphael will sign commemorative Hatch Show Print posters.
