Come explore Savage Gulf on this 4mile introductory hike! Join Nashville Hiking Meetup for a day hike at Savage Gulf at South Cumberland State Park near Palmer, TN. HIKE STATS: Meeting Time: 9 a.m. (leaving at 9:15am) for carpool or 11:00 a.m. at trailhead Meeting Place for Carpool: Behind Steak 'n Shake/IHOP Bell Rd. Estimated Drive Time (one way): almost 1.5-2 hours Hike Distance: about 4 miles Estimated Hike Time: 3 hours Difficulty: Easy Hike Leader: Sabine Notes: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcomed We will meet at the parking lot behind Steak 'n Shake in Antioch on Bell Road (off I-24 South) at 9 a.m. and will carpool 1.5-2 hours to the Savage Gulf Ranger Station. Our route: We'll start at the Ranger Station and head on the Savage Day Loop Trail. We'll lunch at Savage falls before we head back to the ranger station. Savage Falls Day Loop Trail is a very peaceful, kid friendly trail. There are a couple cable crossings, creeks, waterfalls, and an overlook. It’s relatively safe for kids to explore. It'll make for a leisurely fall hike; I'll be bringing my kiddos, too. 🙂 There are options to add miles if you like to explore on your own with side trails. Comfortable shoes, lunch/snacks, your camera, and water.
