Franklin Woman Runs Third Boston Marathon
Amy Jones Completes 10th Marathon in Boston
It doesn’t matter where you live, you’ve probably seen Amy Jones running on the side of the road if you’re in the vicinity of Middle Tennessee. The Franklin woman is known to run from Williamson County all the way to downtown Nashville and back. All that pavement-pounding paid off this past Monday when Jones crossed the finish line of her third Boston Marathon.

That makes her average pace 8:15 minutes per mile.. for 26.2 miles! She says the race was a wonderful experience and the support of the crowd is unlike any other event. The crowd, along with her mind, helped her get to the end after she experienced some intense calf cramping six miles out. She said the emotion of a race this big is unbelievable and she couldn’t stop crying once she crossed the finish line.
This race marked the 10th marathon for Jones who only started running in 2007 after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her first marathon was here in Nashville in 2009 which qualified her for Boston the following year. She ran in Boston in 2010 and 2011.
Jones’ next marathon is in Chicago this October. Until then, you can find her running all over Music City.
